SecondLook Terms of Use

What SecondLook is — and what it is not

SecondLook is a safety and education tool. It checks a job message you provide against known scam patterns and explains, in plain language, what is unusual for your stage in a hiring process.

SecondLook cannot and does not confirm that any message, company, recruiter, or person is legitimate or fraudulent. It does not deliver verdicts about real entities. A result with no flags is not a guarantee of safety. Do not make decisions to send money, documents, or personal information based solely on this app — always verify the employer independently.

How the check works

You provide a message as text or a screenshot. The standard check runs a rule engine entirely on your device and reports which patterns matched. One optional feature, "Deep AI Check," sends the message text (with sensitive numbers removed) and the screenshot to a third-party AI model; its output is AI-generated and can be wrong.

SecondLook Plus

An optional paid subscription adds more Deep AI Checks each month, full saved history, and deeper analysis. Free and Plus use the same on-device rule engine — basic safety checking is never gated behind a purchase.

Acceptable use

Do not misuse the app, attempt to disrupt the backend service, submit content designed to abuse the AI providers, or present SecondLook output as a professional determination that a specific company or person is committing fraud.

Disclaimer of warranties

The app is provided "as is." We do not warrant that its checks will be accurate, complete, available, or suitable for any purpose.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for losses or decisions made using the app, including any loss resulting from acting or failing to act on a SecondLook result.
